EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS)
Here at Foundations Day Nursery we follow the EYFS curriculum framework. This supports and tracks your child's learning and development.
The EYFS explains how your child will be encouraged to learn and develop through a variety of activities and opportunities in the different areas of their development.
Your child will be learning new skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development.
EARLY YEARS
FOUNDATION STAGE
Communication and Language
We understand that quality conversations are crucial to a child's language development. We use the Wellcom tool kit to support and enrich communication and language.
Physical Development
We provide opportunities for practicing large and small movements from sensory explorations to early writing, from tummy time to riding a bike, these skills allow children to develop proficiency, control and confidence.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We support children to manage their emotions, have confidence in their abilities and be driven to persist to reach a goal. Children who make secure attachments with adults learn to understand their own and others feelings.
Literacy
We promote a love of reading from our youngest babies. Babies and children explore books and share stories with each other and the adults around them.
Mathematics
Babies and children explore numbers using number rhymes and the natural environment, it is important that they acquire a strong grounding and be confident to have a go.
Understanding of the World
Babies and children are encouraged to explore their physical world and their local community, children learn about the diverse world. This helps widen their vocabulary which later supports reading.
Expressive Arts and Designs
Through exploring a range of media
and materials, using their imagination
and creativity babies and children learn
to interpret and respond to what they
hear and observe.
If you decide to choose Foundations Day Nursery, your child will pass through our fully equipped rooms and as they transition through they will develop further in all of the seven areas of learning. All of which are used to plan your child's learning and development. Our fully trained team will be at hand to teach and support your child and ensure that all the activities are suited to your individual child's needs. The EYFS is designed to be flexible so the teachers can follow your child's unique needs and interests.
